Geneva: the smallest of the big cities

Programme

Friday 22. June:

22:30 - Arrival of the "Gleis 7 Generation" (check out the proposed trains) Afterwards we will get our rooms at the youth hostel and make a shy check at the "fete de la musique"

Saturday 23th June Midday:

  • 11:30 - The weekend begins! Arrival at the Geneva railway station (-> proposed trains).
  • Afternoon - Picknic at the lake Geneva and visit of the "palais des nations" also known as the United Nations (UNO), their second biggest headquarter next to New York!
  • 16:00 Taking our rooms in the Youth Hostel
  • 17:00 Tour through the old part of the city afterwards we join the fete de la city (french for party of the music) which is taking place in the whole city during this weekend (www.fetedelamusique.ch). You will see a lot of concerts and they are all for free !!! (Yes there are things for free in Swizerland). We will also have dinner at a stand there (not included in the price for the weekend)

Sunday 24th June

  • Morning: Breakfast in the youth hostel
  • Afternoon: Good weather programme: bike tour to Nyon (three hours biking time, visit of a small castle, Picknic at the lake side, swimming in the lake...
    Bad weather programme: ship to Nyon and visiting a museum
  • Evening:Return to home sweet home (from Nyon checkout the proposed trains)

Participants & Costs

The number of participants is limited to 35 persons.

Costs (to be paid during the weekend):

  • The costs are a about 50 Sfr.
  • The price includes: lodging, local transport, breakfast and lunches, all entrances, bike rental
  • NOT included: travel from your home to Geneva and Back, dinner on Saturday evening

For those who arrive already at friday night: the extra cost for the night with breakfast is 24.5 Sfr.

If the absence of registered people will cause extra costs for IAESTE, all people who won't show up without cancellation till the 18th June 2000 will be asked to contribute for these costs.

AND DON'T forget this things at home:

  • A big bright smile
  • some money
  • Swimming suit, towel
  • clothes depending on the weather
