Ski & Party

THE Ultimate Event of IAESTE in winter 2001

7th to 9th of December 2001

For all trainees in Switzerland, LC members and alumnies and all IAESTE people all over the world.

Switzerland, the greatest skiing counry in the world, and IAESTE, the biggest party organisation in the world, offer you a weekend you won't ever forget.

No matter if you have never seen snow before in your life or if you are a world champion in downhill racing: This weekend is for you! We will offer skiing classes for the beginners and ski races for the best, Flambing Hot Wine and Fondue for the real Chalet experience and a neverending party that will tiren even the toughest party addicts!!!

Zurich meeting point

Lausanne meeting point

The cheapest way is to reach Les Diablerets is to use "Gleis 7" or a "SBB/CFF General Abonment" but you may have to pay one part of the trip with "Gleis 7" (trip until 7pm). For those who don't have these tickets, there will be buses organized from Zurich, but there is only a limited number of places avalaible. Register by sending an email to Hisashi Saito (saito@biotech.biol.ethz.ch). He will tell you if there is still a place for you in a bus. Contact him in case of problems. The meeting point is at 5:30pm at the Parking place of the Post office Sihlpost Kasernenstr. 95/97 (close to Zurich Main Station, along the gate 1, cross the kanal Sihl, left is the Parking). We will have left at 6pm. Some of you may have to take the train because bus space is limited (see Transportation below for train schedules). Priority will be given to IAESTE people without reduction tickets.

If you come on your own, don't count on anybody being at the Chalet before 8pm on Friday.

If you choose 'Bus from Lausanne' you will be contacted by diablerets@gmx.ch. Contact that mail address in case of problems.

The meeting point will be in the main hall of the Lausanne railway station on Friday at 17h00.

If you come on your own, don't count on anybody being at the Chalet before 8pm on Friday.

Ski Rental

If you get lost, call

We organize ski rental in Diablerets (about 60.- for both days for skis, sticks and boots).

Please mention your need for ski rental during inscription so we can reserve the right amount of equipment. If you do not let us know now, ou might end up not having equipment (and skiing without skis is painful...)

  IAESTE Lausanne HOTLINE: 076 / 529 3227
(take this phone number with you during the weekend!)

You can also try at the Chalet:
024 / 492-2798 or
024 / 492-2755

Vital Information

Transportation:

The cheapest way to travel from Zurich or Basel is to use "Gleis 7". If you come by train, click here for suggested train schedules from Zurich and Basel. Check www.sbb.ch for prices and other train schedules. If you would like to join one of the IAESTE buses leaving from Lausanne or Zurich, read "Zurich Meeting Point" and "Lausanne Meeting Point" above for details.

Don't forget:

Warm clothes, gloves, sun screen, sunglasses, slippers, towel and a sleeping bag (there are some covers, but not enough to keep you warm!). Bring your own food for Friday night. There will only be snacks and drinks (and unforgetable drink...).

Please do take some compact discs (write your name on the cover!), prepare some fun games - and if you happen to have a good bottle from your country, don't leave it at home! By the way, we LOVE Rudolf, other "red noses" please take your own booze along ;-)

Costs for 2 days :

Food, drinks (a reasonable amount of alcohol is included) and lodging : SFr. 65.-
Ski-Pass (2 days): around 60.-
Ski-Hire : around 60.-

We will communicate you the exact prices once we know how many people are coming.

Address of the Chalet:

Chalet Les Bosquets, 1865 Les Diablerets

How to find the Chalet:

By car arriving from Aigle: One of the first houses on your left when you get into Les Diablerets is the hotel "Mon Abri". Turn left just after the hotel and follow a sign reading "Centre de Jeunesse Adventiste" until the end of the road.

On foot from the railway station: It's a 5 minutes walk to the Chalet. Follow the road back towards Aigle until you get to the hotel "Mon Abri" which is one of the last houses of the village on your right. Take a right just before the hotel and follow a sign reading "Centre de Jeunesse Adventiste" until the end of the road.

Program

Friday

The trainees and committees gather in Zurich or Lausanne (which ever is closer to you). IAESTE Lausanne and Zurich will organize some buses and cars (see "Zurich Meeting Point" and "Lausanne Meeting Point" above).

From 9pm on, we meet at the Chalet for some "vin chaud" (warm alcoholic beverage) and snacks at the chalet warming party. Please bring your own food for Friday night.

Saturday

Ski rental for those who don't have skis yet. Skiing and sunbathing on the glacier during the day. If you don't know how to ski, lessons will be taught by our experienced staff. Finally, there will be a relaxing evening program with food, drinks, games, music, dancing...

Sunday

More skiing and sun basking during the day and travel back in the evening.

Please register through the web form.
Generally, we take 77 people.

Have a look at the people who have already applied.
If you are on the waiting list, do not become desperate: we will do everything to get more rooms in order to lodge you (last year, we had 95 participants!). You will be informed by the organisation committee!
