IAESTE - Zermatt Week-End

Zermatt, at the foot of the majestic Matterhorn, is a world without cars.

Zermatt

Programme:

Friday 24. August
21:46Arrival of the Gleis 7 travellers. Meeting at the train station.
22:00 Walk from the station to the Youth Hostel.
Evening in Zermatt village pubs and discos. J
Saturday 25. August
Morning Breakfast at the Youth Hostel
Free morning (Recovering from the evening before, walking tour in the village, visit to galleries, etc.)
10:43 Arrival of Saturday travellers. Meeting at the train station. Walk to the Youth Hostel.
11:15 Meeting for everybody at the Youth Hostel.
13:00 2 choices:
  • "Cultural Zermatt": Alpine museum / galleries…
  • Biking tour on mountain paths
19:00? Evening meal at the Youth Hostel
Evening Zermatt pubs, discos, etc.
Sunday 26. August
07:00 Breakfast at the Youth Hostel.
08:00 Walking / Hiking tour in the Alps
Lunch: Sandwiches (Sandwich-meal provided by the youth hostel: CHF 11.50)
Return down to Zermatt, via the Glacier garden
17:00 Shower in the Youth Hostel.
18:52 Departure: back home! L

Participants & Costs

Number

The number of participants is limited to 40. Participants that would like to arrive on Friday evening should hurry to register: only 25 beds are booked).

Costs

The weekend cost is CHF 46 per night, including evening meal, and breakfast.
NOT included: return travel to Zermatt, Sunday's evening meal, drinks in the evenings, train if you are not hiking, museum entry costs, bike rental…

Don't forget

  • to bring:
    • walking shoes (at least sport shoes)…
    • Sunglasses, sun cream
    • Raincoat
    • Swimming suit (bad weather? -> pool?)
    • (bed sheets are provided by the youth hostel)
  • No cars are allowed in Zermatt village, if you drive, you will have to park in the valley and end the trip with the train (approx. 10 min, CHF 3.50)
  • Registration deadline: Monday 20th, noon
  • Once you have registered for this event, your participation is mandatory. Cancellation is allowed before the 20th of August. After the 20th you will be charged the full price even if you do not join.
