Industrial Sights - KKW Leibstadt
In the past, trainees have said that they wished that they had more
industry exposure during their time in Switzerland. To respond to
this need, IAESTE created "Industrial Sights", for the first time in
the summer of 2001. Industrial Sights is designed to take trainees
to different companies and introduce them to different technologies.
The trips are designed to last between 2 and 4 hours and will cover
the basic areas of that particular company.
Don't be scared, this is not school!
Now you might be wondering why you should go. Because it will be
fun and the bonus is that you might actually learn something.
This year, after a visit to ABB High Voltage Technology and Novartis
the third trip is to
Nuclear Powerplant Leibstadt, Leibstadt, Switzerland
About KKW Leibstadt:
KKW Leibstadt was built in 1984
as the fifth and biggest nuclear powerplant ("Kernkraftwerk") of Switzerland.
Today it produces 1170 MW and is one of the biggest nuclear powerplants of Europe.
60% of the electricity in Switzerland is produced by hydroplants, 40% by nuclear
powerplants.
