Industrial Sights - Novartis

In the past, trainees have said that they wished that they had more industry exposure during their time in Switzerland. To respond to this need, IAESTE created "Industrial Sights", for the first time in the summer of 2001. Industrial Sights is designed to take trainees to different companies and introduce them to different technologies. The trips are designed to last between 2 and 4 hours and will cover the basic areas of that particular company.

Don't be scared, this is not school!

Now you might be wondering why you should go. Because it will be fun and the bonus is that you might actually learn something.

Novartis Pharma Schweizerhalle, Basel, Switzerland

Novartis is a world leader in the research and development of products to protect and improve health and well-being. Headquartered in Basel, Novartis offers products through Pharmaceuticals, Generics, Consumer Health and Animal Health Sectors.

Novartis Schweizerhalle:

In Schweizerhalle, Novartis Pharma produces intermediate products for Diovan®, a medication used to treat high blood pressure. You are offered a chance to take a look at this part of the pharmaceutical industry. The visit to Schweizerhalle includes a short introduction by the Production Manager, a plant tour, and lunch in the cafeteria.

Time:

The visit will take place on August 22nd (Thursday), 9:30 -13:00.

Location/Transportation:

Schweizerhalle is located outside Basel, about 7 kilometers from the centre of the city. There is a bus connection from the centre to Schweizerhalle. Reserve some money for the bus ticket. The plan is to meet at the Basel SBB train station at 8:30 and go together to the place. It is possible for trainees working for Novartis to use the Werkbus connection.

Note:

Number of participants is limited to 15. Deadline for registration is 18th August. More detailed information will be sent to the participants a couple of days before the visit. Note: The arrangements depend on where the participants come from, so further details will be decided after the registration is done.
