Les Diablerets 2002

Ski & Party

Telesiege

The Ultimate Event of IAESTE in Winter 2002

6th to 8th of December 2002

For all trainees in Switzerland, LC members and alumnies and all IAESTE people all over the world.

Switzerland, the greatest skiing counry in the world, and IAESTE, the biggest party organisation in the world, offer you a weekend you won't ever forget.

No matter if you have never seen snow before in your life or if you are a world champion in downhill racing: This weekend is for you! We will offer skiing classes for the beginners and ski races for the best, Flambing Hot Wine and Fondue for the real Chalet experience and a neverending party that will tiren even the toughest party addicts!!!

Zurich meeting point

Lausanne meeting point

The cheapest way to reach Les Diablerets is to use "Gleis 7" or a "SBB/CFF General Abonment" but you may have to pay one part of the trip with "Gleis 7" (trip until 7pm). For those who don't have these tickets, there will be buses organized from Zurich, but there is only a limited number of places available.

If you choose "Bus from Zurich" in the registration, you will be contacted by the LC Zurich. We will tell you if there is still a place for you in a bus.

Send a mail to ski2002@iaeste.ch in case of problems. The meeting point in Zurich is at 18:15 at the Parking place of the Post office Sihlpost Kasernenstr. 95/97 (close to Zurich Main Station, along platform 1, cross the kanal Sihl, left is the Parking). We will leave immediately after loading the bus! Some of you may have to take the train because bus space is limited (see Transportation below for train schedules).

If you choose 'Bus from Lausanne' you will be contacted by khaoulab@ipw.agrl.ethz.ch. Contact her in case of problems.

The meeting point is in the main hall of the Lausanne railway station on Friday at 17h00.

Basel meeting point

There is currently no bus organized for the trainees from Basel.

The meeting point is at the railway station in Basel SBB at 18:10 latest (train departs at 18:24).

If you come on your own, don't count on anybody being at the Chalet before 8pm on Friday.

About Skiing

If you get lost

For skiing, the following equipment can be rented: Skis, sticks, boots.
We organize ski rental in Diablerets (about 60.- CHF for two days, less if you bring your own boots). Please select the appropriate field in the registration form if you want to rent skis/boots.

In addition to this, you must bring warm clothes (skiing clothes are recommended), gloves, a cap, sun glasses and sun cream with you.

Renting Snowboard equipment is also possible. Only the board and boots can be rented. You must bring appropriate clothes. If you are interested, please write this on the registration form.

In order to use the skilifts, you need a ski pass (select the appropriate field on the registration form).

Vital Information

Transportation:

The cheapest way to travel from Zurich or Basel is to use "Gleis 7". If you come by train, check below for the suggested train connections from Zurich and Basel. Also check www.rail.ch for prices and other train schedules. Don't forget:

Warm (skiign) clothes, gloves, cap, sun cream, sunglasses, slippers, towel and a sleeping bag (there are some covers, but not enough to keep you warm!). Bring your own food for Friday night. There will only be snacks and drinks (and unforgetable drink...).

Please do take some compact discs (write your name on the cover!), prepare some fun games - and if you happen to have a good bottle from your country, don't leave it at home! By the way, we LOVE Rudolf, other "red noses" please take your own booze along ;-)

Costs for 2 days :

Food, drinks (a reasonable amount of alcohol is included) and lodging : SFr. 60.-
Ski-Pass (2 days): around 80.-
Rent ski&Boots : around 60.-

We will communicate you the exact prices once we know how many people are coming.

Address of the Chalet:

Chalet Les Bosquets, 1865 Les Diablerets

How to find the Chalet:

By car arriving from Aigle: One of the first houses on your left when you get into Les Diablerets is the hotel "Mon Abri". Turn left just after the hotel and follow a sign reading "Centre de Jeunesse Adventiste" until the end of the road.

By foot from the railway station: It's a 5 minutes walk to the Chalet. Follow the road back towards Aigle until you get to the hotel "Mon Abri" which is one of the last houses of the village on your right. Take a right just before the hotel and follow a sign reading "Centre de Jeunesse Adventiste" until the end of the road.
