Interlaken is situated in Berner Oberland between the two lakes Thuner and Brienzer surrounded by beautiful Swiss mountains. During the River Rafting Weekend we will get the chance to explore this region from the river as well as by foot.

Program

Saturday, July 12th

• 11:30: Registration at the train station in Interlaken
• 13:00: Meeting point at the River Rafting base (http://www.outdoorexperience.ch)
• Afternoon: Rafting on the black Lütschine between Lütschental and Zweilütschinen
• Snack at the river rafting base
• Relaxation at the lake side or walk around on your own in Interlaken
• 20:00 Dinner in Interlaken
• Feel free to discover the nightlife in Interlaken

Sunday, July 13th

• 08:00 Breakfast
• 09:00 Clean up the bomb shelter
• Hiking in the beautiful Swiss Alps
• Evening: go back home

Important remarks about the rafting

Rafting is an adventure sport, and a wild river is not harmless: You must know swimming and be in normal health-condition. Alcohol before and during the rafting is strictly forbidden. Before the raft you get introduced to the techniques of controlling the boat, and each boat is lead by an experienced rafter. A neoprene-wetsuit, a helmet and a life jacket protect you. If you wear glasses, we recommend you to fix them with a rubber band as they can easily fall off.

NOTE: Accomodation

The accommodation is basic. There will not be any shower opportunities for Sunday morning. However, after the river rafting we get the possibility to shower at the rafting base.

Insurance

IAESTE Switzerland is not responsible for anything in case of an accident. Make sure that you are well insured.

Participants & Costs

The number of participants is limited to 60 persons (staff included). Priority will be given to trainees and members from IAESTE, AIESEC and ESN.

Costs

(to be paid cash on Saturday morning): The costs are CHF 120.- for IAESTE, AIESEC and ESN people. CHF 150 for guests.

• Included: River Rafting (incl. equipment like boat, neoprene suit, life jacket and helmet), lodging, dinner and breakfast
• NOT included: Return ticket from your home to Interlaken, lunch on Saturday, and alcoholic drinks.

Don't forget:

• Lunch for Saturday and drinks for the whole weekend
• Swimming suit, towel
• Money
• Clothes depending on the weather
• Good mood and a portion of courage!
• Hiking shoes for the hiking tour (NO city shoes or sandales)
• Sleeping bag

We will have registration at the train station upon arrival in Interlaken Ost. Please have the exactly 120CHF ready for payment. We do NOT accept credit cards or checks. Afterwards we will walk together to the Bomb shelter (Zivilschutzanlage) where you can leave your luggage. From there we will walk to the riverrafting base.

In case of late cancellations or emergencies during the weekend, 076 510 42 46 will be the phone number from Friday at 15 pm. 

Participation after signing up to this event is mandatory. Because places are limited we kindly ask you to cancel at least 5 days before the event if you can’t participate. This gives IAESTE enough time to find a person to replace you. If you don’t show up for the weekend without proper cancellation you will be charged for the full price for reasons of fairness.
