Industrial Sights

In the past, trainees have said that they wished that they had more industry exposure during their time in Switzerland. To respond to this need, IAESTE created "Industrial Sights", for the first time in the summer of 2001. Industrial Sights is designed to take trainees to different companies and introduce them to different technologies. The trips are designed to last between 2 and 4 hours and will cover the basic areas of that particular company.

Don't be scared, this is not school!

Now you might be wondering why you should go. Because it will be fun and the bonus is that you might actually learn something.

This year, the first trip is to

ABB High Voltage Technology, Zurich-Oerlikon, Switzerland

ABB

ABB High Voltage Technology:

ABB is the world's leading manufacturer of high voltage systems, especially systems for energy production (generator) and energy transfer (gas insulated switchgear). The tour will consist of seeing the head quarters of ABB high voltage and a guided factory tour - and of course an apero.

Time:

It will start at 2pm on September 24th (Wednesday) and will end around 5pm.

Location:

I will meet everyone at the Oerlikon train station at the kiosk at 1:40pm. Spaces are limited to 20 people. Once the list is finalized, I will send a confirmation email with more details about 2-3 days before the tour.

Transportation:

It is up to the individual trainees to make their way to Oerlikon where I will meet everyone at the train station. We will then make the 10 minutes walk to ABB.

Note:

I know that yor are all working during the wheek when these trips take place. So it is important to ask your boss/supervisor if you can go to these events. They might want you to use some of your vacation time or see if you can make up the time lost.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email me at wysswy@gmx.ch
