Programme

Friday, August 1st

  • meeting at the train station in Bellinzona: 10:30
  • visit of the castle Bellinzona
  • train ride to Lugano
  • visit of the city and celebration of the Swiss National day (firework at the lake) in Lugano
  • dinner in an Italian style Pizzeria
  • accomodation: youth hostel in Lugano

Saturday, August 2nd
Locarno
  • breakfast in the youth hostel
  • boat ride: Lugano - Ponte Tresa (Lago di Lugano)
  • stop-over in the lakeside village Melide, optional visit of Swissminiatur-Museum (Switzerland in one hour) or swimming at Melide Beach
  • stop-over in the lakeside village Morcote, optional visit of Parco Scherrer - a 19th century monument-garden - or swimming at Morcote Beach
  • bus ride to Luino (Italy) on a mountain road
  • boat ride from Luino (Italy) to Ascona (Switzerland) on the Lago Maggiore
  • swimming in the Lago Maggiore
  • Pizzeria / Bar in Ascona
  • bus ride to our accomodation in Conte (15min from Locarno/Ascona)

Sunday, August 3rd
Bungee
  • bus ride to Locarno and from there into the Verczasca valley
  • hiking in the valley
  • picnic
  • 3 p.m.: visit of the famous dam where James Bond jumped down from in "Golden Eye"
  • for the brave people: bungee-jumping
  • for the more cautious people: preventing the others from not jumping in the last minute ;-)

Participation Details & Costs

The number of participants is limited to 30.

What is included

  • entrance fee at Bellinzona castle
  • two nights of accomodation
  • entrance fee at Parco Scherrer and Swiss Miniature Museum
  • dinner on Friday evening
  • breakfast on Saturday morning
  • boat rides as well as bus ride from Ponte Tresa to Luino

What is not included

  • train rides to Bellinzona, between Bellinzona and Lugano and back home from Locarno
  • lunch on August 1st
  • Pizzeria on August 2nd (maybe it can be a bit supported)
  • breakfast and lunch for the hiking on August 3rd (can be bought on August 2nd in Lugano or Ascona)
  • bungee jumping (185 SFr per person)

What to bring

  • passport to enter Italy and re-enter Switzerland (for people who cannot leave Switzerland an alternative route is possible)
  • picnic lunch for Friday
  • sleeping bag
  • hiking / sport shoes
  • swimming suite
  • clothes for bad weather (just in case)
