Lausanne

Lausanne, Montreux and Genève
Weekend 2004

Fri 9th to Sun 11th July 2004

Genève

This is THE event for discovering Suisse Romande. Two full
days, three cities, a beautiful lake and -of course- lots of fun!

Come and discover Genève, the city of international organizations;
Lausanne, the Olympic Capital; and Montreux, Switzerland's Monte-Carlo.

Programme

We'll meet in Lausanne, at the main railway station's meeting point (in the main hall) on Friday 9th July at 21:40.

Friday 9th July

After dropping off your bags at the hostel, we will spend the night at the Festival de la Cité. This is a free and great event happening in many places in the heart of Lausanne. You will find many styles of music, and also dance, theatre, and cinema.

Saturday 10th July

After breakfast at the hostel, we'll go on a guided tour of Lausanne (approx. 2 hour-walk). You'll see the old town, the castle, the cathedral, and many others. After a picnic on the lakeside, we'll visit the Olympic Museum.

In the evening, we'll leave for Montreux. After a short walk in the city, you can freely enjoy the night at the Montreux Jazz Festival. This is a world-famous event, with of course big stars and expensive concerts. But mostly, there are less known (but very good) artists and bands playing in the streets. You may then have dinner at the food stands.

Sunday 11th July

After breakfast at the hostel, we'll travel to Genève. There, we'll have a guided tour through the United Nation's Palais des Nations. After a picnic on the lakeside with a great view on the Jet d'eau (water jet), we'll have a walk through the old town.

In the evening, we'll go back to Lausanne, for picking up your bags from the hostel.
