Mountain Weekend 2004

September 11th - 12th
(Sat-Sun)

Mountain lake

Don't miss it!

This is a hiking event for people who want to spend a weekend in the beautiful surroundings of the Swiss Alps.

Program

Saturday, Sep 11th

We meet at 08:00, Meeting Point of the Zurich Main Station. If you don't come from Zurich, you can meet us in Sarnen (bus stop / station at 10:00).

We will take a bus to Stöckalp. A cablecar will then take us up to 1900 m of altitude. After an easy afternoon hike up one of the smaller mountains and to a lake (approx. 3-4 hours), you can swim in the (probably quite cool) mountain lake - so take your swimsuit with you!

We will spend the evening in a house where we will do our own cooking. The house offers a homely common room and dormitories (woollen blankets provided).

Sunday, Sep 12th

On Sunday, after cleaning the house, there is enough time for another hike depending on the weather conditions and people's fitness (approx. 3-4 hours). Enjoy a terrific view of the Alps!

After that, you can either take the cablecar down to the valley - or join us and rent a "Trotti-Bike" to race down! We will be back at Zurich HB around 18:30 (or later, if you want to use Gleis7).

Mountain hut

Please note:

This event takes place in the mountains. You should be reasonably fit to undertake the hike as described, and you should definitely bring good equipment (hiking shoes and a good raincoat). The hikes are neither difficult nor dangerous, but people should stick to our instructions. The accommodation provides no luxury but everything necessary, plus a lot beautiful view. There is electric light and even a shower! We will cook our own dinner (and breakfast).

What to bring:

  • ticket to Sarnen (via Luzern) and back, costs: see example below. Or use your Gleis 7 ticket on the return journey.
  • Hiking boothiking boots, backpack
  • rain coat (maybe also rain trousers)
  • lunch and snacks for two days + drinks for Satuday
  • hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
  • swimsuit (for those not scared of cool water)
  • important: some space in your backpack to carry a share of the dinner and breakfast

plus maybe a torch, a towel, games, camera...
There is no need to bring a sleeping bag.

Costs

You have to bring your own train ticket to Sarnen and back. Apart from the train ticket please bring with you Fr. 45.- (for those with 1/2-Tax) or Fr. 50.- (without 1/2). That includes:
