Industrial Sights
In the past, trainees have said that they wished that they had more
industry exposure during their time in Switzerland. To respond to
this need, IAESTE created "Industrial Sights", for the first time in
the summer of 2001. Industrial Sights is designed to take trainees
to different companies and introduce them to different technologies.
The trips are designed to last between 2 and 4 hours and will cover
the basic areas of that particular company.
Don't be scared, this is not school!
Now you might be wondering why you should go. Because it will be
fun and the bonus is that you might actually learn something.
ABB High Voltage Technology, Zurich-Oerlikon, Switzerland
ABB High Voltage Technology:
ABB is the world's leading manufacturer of high voltage systems,
especially systems for energy production (generator) and energy
transfer (gas insulated switchgear). The tour will consist of seeing
the head quarters of ABB high voltage and a guided factory tour - and
of course an apero.
Time:
It will start at 2pm on September 17th (Friday) and last until 5pm.
Location:
We meet at Oerlikon train station near the kiosk at 1:40pm. Then we can walk
together to the ABB building. It takes about 10 minutes to get there.
Transportation:
It is up to the individual trainees to make their way to Oerlikon.
I think everyone knows how to get there. If anyone doesn't know, please
check www.rail.ch. Or send me an e-mail.
