Biking Weekend 2005

This weekend is just perfect for sporty trainees who like to discover the lake of
Constance and the Rhein by bike!
But don't be afraid, you don't have to be very sporty. But you should be
a bit used to sit on a bike, because we will cycle each day around
70 kilometers. And if you are not, we can guarantee you an aching bottom...
The landscape at the lake of Constance is very nice - just perfect for biking.
On Saturday we will start our biking tour in Rorschach. During the day we will
have the possibility to enjoy the landscape, the little villages and the talks
with the other trainees. Of course we will make a break for lunch and swimming.
In the evening we will stay in the youthhostel of "Stein am Rhein", where we
will have dinner.
On Sunday we will visit the Munot and the
Rheinfall in Schaffhausen. Then we
will go on our way to Zurzach. During the day we will again make some breaks
for swimming in the rhein and discovering little things on the way.

Saturday, September 03 - Biking at the Lake of Constance
- 9:40: Meeting at the train station in Rorschach
- Rest of the Morning: Cycling
- Lunch: Somewhere on the way (take the lunch with you)
- Afternoon: Of course Cycling with a break for swimming
- Evening: Dinner at the youth hostel in Schaffhausen
- Night: Discovering Stein am Rhein by night and recovering
- Tour: Rorschach - Kreuzlingen - Stein am Rhein
- Distance: 61 kilometers
Sunday, September 04 - Biking along the River Rhein
- 08:00 Breakfast
- 09:00 Cycling and visiting the Munot and the Rheinfall
- Lunch: Break somewhere on the way and time for swimming
- Evening: go back home
- Tour: Stein am Rhein - Zurzach
- Distance: 75 kilometers
Accommodation
We will sleep in the youth hostel of Stein am Rhein.
Insurance
IAESTE Switzerland is not responsible for anything in case of an
accident. Make sure that you are well insured.
Costs
(to be paid cash on Saturday morning): The costs are CHF 86.- for IAESTE, AIESEC and ESN people. CHF 96 for guests.
- Included: Rent of the cycles, lodging, dinner, breakfast, entrance to the waterfall
- Not included: Return ticket from/to your home to/from Rorschach/Zurzach, lunch on Saturday and Sunday
- Discount:
- You bring your own bike with you: 46.- (Price for the weekend: 40.-)
- Half-Price-Ticket/GA: 10.- for the rented bike (Price for the weekend: 76.-)
Note: If you want to transport a bike in the train, you have to buy a ticket for the bike. This will cost either 10 CHF or (for short distances) as much as a regular half price ticket, and with Gleis 7 it is free after 19:00. Find more info at the SBB.
Don't forget:
- Lunch for Saturday and Sunday
- Swimming suit, towel
- Money
- Clothes depending on the weather
- Good mood
But: Do not bring to much stuff. You have to carry everything on your bike.
We will collect the money at the train station upon arrival in Rorschach.
Please have the exact amount ready for payment. We do not accept credit cards
or checks.

People from further away
If you come from further away and have problems to come to Zurich/Rorschach
so early in the morning: You can still participate! Check with your
fellow trainees, we are sure that you can stay somewhere in Zurich over
night!
Number of participants and registration
Please register for this event between 2005-08-24 12:00 and 2005-08-26 14:00 (registration exclusively electronically and in the given time frame; link for registration published here during this time).
The first ones to do so who fit in our group of up to 20 people (including helpers) are in! If the list of participants is already filled up, you can still register. You are then added to the waiting list, and with a bit of luck you can still join!
