Join us to see how the famous Swiss Chocolate is made!

Industrial Sights

In the past, trainees told us that they wished to have more exposure to the industry during their time in Switzerland. To respond to this need, IAESTE introduced the visits to Industrial Sights several years ago. They are designed to take trainees to different companies and introduce them to different technologies. The trips usually last between 2 and 4 hours and cover the basic areas of the respective company.

Don't be scared, this is not school!

History of Chocolate Frey

Chocolate Frey AG was founded by the brothers Max and Robert Frey in 1887; therefore, its history is almost as old as the European chocolate industry. It made an important contribution to change Chocolate from being an exclusive, handmade luxury product for the wealthy to the sweet delight of a broad population. In 1950, the factory was overtaken by Migros, and this is the reason why Chocolate Frey today is not only number one in the Swiss chocolate market, but also exports into 20 different countries.

The Program

We will meet at Aarau train station and take a bus together to get to Buchs, where Chocolate Frey is located. The visit will start at 9:00 with a tasty breakfast offered by Chocolate Frey, and after seeing a movie, we will have a guided tour (in English) through the Chocolate factory, of course including tasting of delicious chocolates. The whole program will take about 3 hours, and at the end you will have the perfect opportunity to do some Christmas-shopping at the factory store with 20% discount.

Chocolate Frey rules

Because we are visiting a place where food is manufactured, we need to stick to some rules for hygienic reasons. Please wear closed shoes without high heels, otherwise access to the factory may be denied. We will be provided with protective clothes, e.g. for covering the hair. If you feel sick (gastric pain, nausea, diarrhea) you are not allowed to enter the factory.
