Basel Weekend
June 17-18, 2006
One of the first weekends of the IAESTE summer program 2006 takes place in
Basel. If you have just arrived Switzerland and can't wait to meet
other trainees from all over the world, you don't want to miss out on
this event!
When / Where
We meet at the Railway station in Basel SBB at the meeting point on Saturday June 17th at 10:55.
Highlights
Programme
Saturday
- 10:55: Arrival at the railway station Basel SBB; we meet at the meeting point.
- Afterwards: If the weather is good, we will leave to Laufen to do the walking tour on the "planet-way". It's a walking tour that guides you through the solar system...
The bad weather option is to visit Basel's natural history museum or the zoo of Basel. You decide where you will go...
- Evening: Big barbecue either on the river Wiese or in a scouts hut.
- Night: We will spend the night in Riehen next to a gym hall.
Sunday
- Morning: Getting up & having breakfast.
- Afterwards: We'll go for a small sightseeing tour through Basel that will end up at the world's most famous Art Fair
- Afternoon: If the weather is nice, we will meet at the Birsköpfli at the Rhein, where we can go for a swim in the Rhein or just relax
Participation
The number of participants for the weekend is limited to 40 persons.
Priority will be given to IAESTE Trainees & Members, followed by
AIESEC, ESN and IAAS Trainees & Members. Trainees from Basel are
also welcome just to join for the barbecue on Saturday Evening.
Costs
- The participation fee is CHF 70, and must be paid at the beginning of the weekend.
- The fee includes
- Lodging (the night between Saturday and Sunday)
- Local transport
- Entrance Art Fair
- BBQ on Saturday night
- Breakfast on Sunday morning
- not included: train ticket from your home to Basel and back again
- The costs for just the BBQ on Saturday night is CHF 12.
Don't forget
- Lunch for Saturday
- Swim suit and towel
- sleeping bag
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Rain jacket in case of bad weather
Number of participants and registration
Please register for this event between 2006-06-08 09:00 and 2006-06-14 12:00 (registration exclusively electronically and in the given time frame, valid e-mail address required; link for registration published here during this time).
The first ones to do so who fit in our group of up to 40 people (including helpers) are in! If the list of participants is already filled up, you can still register. You are then added to the waiting list, and with a bit of luck you can still join!
