IAESTE & ABB Trainee Event

ABB Switzerland
ABB is a global leader in power and automation technologies. The company operates in more than 100 countries and employs 104'000 people. Besides the automation and turbocharging engines, ABB is the world's leading manufacturer of high voltage systems, especially of systems for the production, transfer and distribution of energy.
Program
IAESTE LC Zurich and ABB Switzerland offers you an interesting afternoon at the ABB High Voltage Technology in Oerlikon. We are going to hear some more details about the company and their products and technologies. After the presentations we will be able to visit the production hall and follow the assembling of a high voltage gas-insulated switch. After the tour there will be an apéro where you get the possibility to ask more questions, for example about a traineeship or future employment at ABB.
But this is not all! After the apéro we will move back to Zurich main station to visit ABB's exhibition "ABB bewegt". There you can learn how ABB is involved in different fields of public transportation like trains or ships.
So much information makes hungry, so we will have dinner afterwards in Zurich.
Even though the visit of the high voltage part of ABB may sound only interesting for electrical engineers, we can assure you that this is not true! The high voltage section is just a small part of the whole company and with the automation and turbocharging sections ABB is one of the most interesting employers for any technical student. Check out their webpage for more information.

Location and Time
Meeting point is at the ABB building Toro1 in Oerlikon. If you are not sure how to get there, come to the back-side of the train station in Oerlikon (track 6). I'll be waiting there until 13:10 and then walk to ABB.
We are aware that this event is taking place on a Friday afternoon and that you have to work. But this is not just some fun-event but a visit of another company in Switzerland. Please show this webpage to your boss and ask him/her to have an afternoon off.
Transportation
It is up to the individual trainee to make their way to Oerlikon. Everybody should know how to get there. If anyone doesn't know, check www.rail.ch or write an email to the address given below.
Cost
You don't have to pay anything except the return ticket to Oerlikon and the drinks in the evening!
Number of participants and registration
Please register for this event between 2006-08-14 12:00 and 2006-08-18 17:00 (registration exclusively electronically and in the given time frame, valid e-mail address required; link for registration published here during this time).
The first ones to do so who fit in our group of up to 50 people (including helpers) are in! If the list of participants is already filled up, you can still register. You are then added to the waiting list, and with a bit of luck you can still join!
