Hiking Alvier ('Hard Hiking')
September 15-16, 2007
Experience the breathtaking view from the peak of Alvier mountain 2343 meters above sea level!
Important remarks about this hike
We will start our hike in Buchs SG which is 450 meters above sea level. The peak is 2343 meters above sea level consequently we have to gain almost 2000 meters of elevation. This means you should be in good condition and you shouldn't be overweight! We will walk for about 5 hours up step trails.

We will go to an alpine area. With the right equipment, good preparation and responsible behaviour it is not dangerous. Failure to comply will result in you being sent home.
The tour will only take place when the weather is good. The LC Basel will decide at 16:00 o'clock Friday the 14th whether it will take place or not.
Here will tell you whether we will go:
The weekend will take place!
There might be some slight showers on Saturday morning. Hence, make sure to bring a raincoat. In the afternoon it will clear up and on Sunday it is predicted to become sunny.

Your luggage has to weight less than 8 kg in total. Otherwise it will be too exhausting to carry it to the peak. You are able to buy drinks and food in the hut. Although the prices are quite high becuase they have to fly everything to the hut by helicopter. I recommend to bring a bottle of red wine for the evening. There is no drinking water in the hut. It is possible to buy water which is drinkable but it tastes nasty and is quite expensive (1 liter for about 2 CHF). Please consider this while packing.
You can buy good shoes and other hiking equipment at Bächli Bergsport, Transa and other places.
Shoes which are considered as appropriate:
